Electrospun fibers can be used as drug carriers that release the drug in a controlled manner in the damaged area of the bone. This improves the treatment process and reduces the side effects of drugs. One of the most recent developments in this field is loading drugs for bone differentiation and antioxidants into fibers. In this research, the drug alendronite and gallic acid were loaded into the electrospun polycaprolactone nanofiber so that the scaffold had two properties of bone differentiation and antioxidant, respectively. In recent studies, the antioxidant effect of gallic acid on the improvement of bone differentiation and also the bone differentiation effect of alendronite in mesenchymal stem cells have been proven. For this purpose, first the fiber morphology was optimized with different percentages of alendronate drug. The optimal amount of gallic acid drug was considered in previous studies in terms of proper fiber morphology. Then, the optimal scaffold was evaluated in terms of water absorption, porosity, antioxidant effect, and the release of alendronite and gallic acid with PCL scaffold as a control group. The results showed that the mentioned scaffold can be suggested as a suitable scaffold for bone tissue engineering.
